Our Annual Forum is organized in partnership with the city of Guimarães and Laboratório da Paisagem.
Guimarães is a city and municipality located in northern Portugal, in the district of Braga. Its historic town centre is listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001, in recognition for being an “exceptionally well-preserved and authentic example of the evolution of a medieval settlement into a modern town” in Europe.
Laboratório da Paisagem seeks to be a reference in international best practices in sustainable development policies. Founded in 2014 by Guimarães’ City Council and two of the main higher education institutions in the north of Portugal, the University of Minho and the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Laboratório da Paisagem is today based on three main axes of intervention: Research and Education, Project Management and Applications, and Communication and Environmental Training.
Energy Cities Annual Forum is a unique event that brings together municipalities, urban experts and organisations in the field of energy and sustainability to discuss common challenges and set the path to advance in the green transition.
